Pvt. Paul Narrow Killed in Action
From the March 28, 1945 Potsdam Courier & Freeman:
Pvt. Paul Narrow, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Narrow, High street, Norwood, was killed in action on Corregidor, February 22, according to a war department telegram received by his parents. Pvt. Narrow was a member of the paratroops.
Paul Narrow was born in Norwood, November 4, 1921. He attended Norwood high school. He entered military service four years ago. He was the first Norwood casualty when he was wounded in the arm, November 8, 1942, in North Africa. He was confined to hospitals overseas until January 1943 when he returned to the Haloran (sp) General hospital, Staten Island.
Following his release from the hospital, he was assigned to Camp Shelly, Mississippi. He was home on furlough in July 1943, and was then sent to California, from where he went overseas. He was stationed in New Guinea, Netherlands, .and the Philippines before going to Corregidor.
He is survived by his parents, a brother Gerald Narrow at home, seven sisters, Mrs. Lena Foley (sp) Vt., Mrs. Dorothy Qu , over, Wash., Mrs. Pearl Rob .Colton, Mrs. Eileen Ramp .wood, and Elizabeth, Doris and .at home.
