The Norwood News of Nov. 10, speaks thus of Mr. George Duquette: "George Duquette, Potsdam's star pitcher, returned yesterday for a three weeks' vacation in town. Mr. Duquette has entered the Normal for a few weeks. Mr. Duquette is a young athlete of whom Potsdam may be proud and he has steadily advanced in the base ball world since he left town. He played in Manitoba during the summer months, and made a decided hit. From there he went to Detroit, where he joined the American League. During his stay with the American Leaguers he won three games and lost one. For the last five weeks of the season, he has been playing with Madison, N.J. His last game was against the New York National Leaguers who had Mathewson in the box. He won his game with a 4-1 score. Duquette is engaged with Detroit next season."

A good shingle story comes in the Norwood News-"Eighty-four years is a long time for shingles to do good service, but Mr. Oel Austin is replacing with new ones the ones that were put on his barn eighty-four years ago, having been shaved and put on by Timothy Clark and his son Daniel. A sample of the shingles shows how thorough they did things in the "good old days." The sample is on pine."

The following regarding the Teachers' Association is from the Norwood News:
The Teachers' Association of the district held its eleventh semi-annual meeting at Norwood, Friday and Saturday of last week. The exercises of Friday evening were held in Music Hall, and the musical programme under the direction of Mrs. Belle Barnard, was well rendered. The address of Mr. Sanders gained close attention. During his remarks he eulogized our schools, complimenting the fine college at Canton, and the Normal and Technical schools at Potsdam. A reception was given by the faculty of Norwood High School in Masonic Hall. The guests were entertained with flinch and piano selections and refreshments were served. The sessions of Saturday were held at the High School. The presentation of some numbers brought out some interesting discussions. Although the attendance was small, the meeting was an enjoyable one. Among the visitors not directly connected with the schools of this district were Dr. Stowell, Prof. Mann, Prof. Bond and Prof. Bailey of the Potsdam Normal and Director Aldrich and Dr. Sanders of the Clarkson School.
