Mr. and Mrs. John P. Mackey are rejoicing at the birth of a son. Weight 10-1/2 pounds.
D. J. McCarthy has his meat market building on Mechanic street nearly completed. James McClelland is also pushing work on his new two story brick block, and will occupy one part himself, renting the other.
Hon. O. B. Hale, overseer of the National Grange, who spent several days last week in Dutchess county, N.Y., is home. He made a special study of the political situation and is enthusiastic over the outlook for a Republican victory.
Dr. Hakins has returned from his expedition to the wilds, back of Montreal. His journey took him about 350 miles north of Montreal. He succeeded in killing a large moose, the hide of which he brought home and will have tanned.
A. H. Latham, Miller Rutherford, Will Walt, O. E. McCarthy and Frank Henderson, who were hunting last week in the Adirondacks near Sevey's came out Sunday. They had excellent success, getting a deer each. They secured one which is quite a rarity; a white legged spotted buck, weighing 200 pounds. They report the hunting as the best ever known.
The long deferred horse race came off Saturday on the Norwood Driving Association track. Three horses were entered for the race, Lillian O. owned by Eugene Sullivan, C.H.G. by C. H. Bowen, and Fred B., by E. J. Vincent. A collision between the Bowen and Vincent horses gave the race to Lillian C., seriously injuring the Vincent horse, and gave the drivers, Vincent and Cornell, a violent shaking up.
Hon. A. C. Seymour will speak upon the issues of the campaign, in Music Hall, Saturday evening, November 5th. This will be the last meeting of the campaign in St. Lawrence county. Music by the Norwood Glee Club.
Mr. Fairchild, of Norfolk, who has built a new house here on Main street during the past summer, has been moving his goods here the past week and will soon be a resident of Norwood.
The household effects of Mamie Bixby were sold at public auction Friday afternoon. Miss Bixby will go to Massachusetts to reside with an uncle.
F. J. Britton, who has had a month's vacation, will resume duty on Tuesday morning.
O. M. Morgan, who with his brother owns a sheep farm in Montana, is home for thirty days, visiting his family.
