From the February 25, 1898 edition of the Potsdam St. Lawrence Herald:

 

A party of twenty members of the training class in Franklin Academy, at Malone, pupils of Miss Clark, visited the Normal Monday afternoon, coming by special car from Malone to Norwood, where they were met by Mr. Earl Clark with a team of four horses, brought to the home of Mr. S.S. Clark on the Norwood road for dinner, thence to the Normal, then back to the Clark homestead for supper, and then to Norwood, where their car was attached to the accommodation train going east Monday evening. There are twenty-five in Miss Clark's class, but only twenty came.

Three couples and quite a number of young gentlemen from Potsdam attended the George Washington's Birthday dance at the American house, Norwood, Monday evening. Potter's orchestra furnished the music. About forty couples were in attendance.
